I was sad to learn that Vintage on Venice is closing. Now through the end of August, they will have deals and mimosas in the shop on Sundays. They were just featured in my Thrifting In L.A. itinerary. Do that itinerary before you can’t.

Reading Los Angeles Book Club
Did you know I started a Reading L.A. Book Club? I hope you will join us for our second book, The Library Book by Susan Orlean. This is the perfect pick to celebrate the LAPL's 100th birthday. On 8/29, we will discuss, go on a docent tour of the library, and see the World's Largest pop-up book.

This is the best book about Los Angeles punk: We've Got The Neutron Bomb (I foresee this being a book club pick.)

This two-week festival of dining starts on Friday the 14th. It is a great way to try the best dishes from local restaurant menus. I often use this as an opportunity to dine at the more expensive restaurants in Los Angeles for less.
Here are my picks: Jacaranda—which feels more like dining at someone’s home; Bacari—because there is so much to choose that maybe it's best to have someone guide you; Broken Spanish Comedor—a lot of bang for your buck; La Draq—because it is the best of his restaurants all in one place.
